This project seeks to provide visual examples that demonstrate the structural changes implemented in Wuhan, China during the COVID-19 pandemic. These changes include facilities constructed to; research the virus, treat individuals infected with the virus, and help prevent the spread of COVID-19 in and beyond Wuhan, China. This will be done through the use of satellite imagery, with relevant points shown at differing times to show change. The primary focus of this project will be hospitals established prior to the pandemic, as well as “fangcang” centers- temporary facilities constructed to support public health efforts during this time. The relevant date range is from approximately November of 2019 through present day, with a focus on early-middle 2020. If time allows, this project will include images of other construction efforts such as barricades established in the Hubei province to enforce quarantine or temporary military research sites, if such information can be located.
