Climate Change and Canada Lynx Habitat in Colorado

Climate change has been debated over several years, although there is often a lot of hard evidence to prove that it is occurring. The question really should be what the effects of climate change are, especially to species that require the climate to remain steady in their native habitat. The Canada Lynx used to occur in a wide range of North America, but it range was reduced over the years. From 1999 to 1006 Colorado decided to reintroduce the Canada Lynx to the Rocky Mountains. However, with climate change now becoming a big factor how will the Canada Lynx habitat be changed along with the climate? This is the question I will be answering using the data collected and analyzing the changes that have occurred already to better see if climate changes will indeed have an impact on the Canada Lynx’s habitat in Colorado.

About this Student
I am a student at Front Range Community College working towards a GIS certificate. I also have a bachelor’s degree in wildlife biology from Colorado State University. I am planning on looking for a job in the future working in an animal related field such as wildlife biology. My plan is to use the GIS certificate to gain work experience that will eventually lead to job working more in the field. I have traveled through most of the US and to a few other countries, and enjoy doing many outdoor activities such as hiking, horseback riding, swimming and other things.
